Robbinsville, NC

Untitled

Chris and I celebrated our 7th year anniversary in the cutest little cabin.
I knew that when I spotted the White Wolf cabin on Airbnb, it was the perfect place for our stay in Robbinsville, NC.

We arrived to a beautiful 30 degree weather, and for the very first time we both experienced the changing leaves; a sight to see.

When we were planning our trip, the weather app informed us there was a chance for snow. I was so excited to see snow for the first time. Of course as the days for the trip got closer, it warmed up just a bit. But during our stay the weather was perfect.

We both made sure to have the proper coats. Outdoorsy enough for our day adventures (hiking) and well you know, cute. Oh yes, warm too!
Parkas, that endured chilly temperatures, fitted the bill. Also leather gloves; I was so glad to have those.

For me this cabin was all about aesthetic. When you think of cabins, you think of plaid upon plaid and more plaid. Well this cabin was beautiful; my kind.

White linens, curtains, neutrals, and leather pillows, adorned this minimal cozy place. It was A DREAM!

The loft bedroom was the cutest... I'm a sucker for the shape of the ceiling.

The next morning I was the first one to wake up. I started playing Christmas music, because it just seemed SO fitting.

I was distracted by how cute the cabin was, that I hadn't looked outside yet.
Chris woke up, grabbed me by the shoulders to quickly show me outside... there was FROST!

I know you are probably thinking -What's so exciting about that?... Well, for me it was my first frost.
Of course I forgot to take pictures of it, as I was mesmerized. Instead I took some video of it on my IG stories.

This picture below, was after the frost had melted. Thank you big leaf for covering my morning face.

We hung out outside for a bit, but 30 degrees is very very cold. After we got ready and made our coffee, we came back outside to enjoy the perfect weather.

This cabin had 4 different outdoor sitting areas. And I loved how simple they were. Also shutout to my lovely Carter travel mug by Fellow Products. Kept my coffee and hot cocoa in the perfect temperatures.

After coffee and breakfast, we got ready to embark on one of our first hikes by lake Santeetlah. Our original plan was to go canoeing. But when is that cold, it's best to stay away from potentially falling in the water.

We got to see the prettiest of fall colors, and I promise that no camera could capture it as well.

During our hike it warmed up to 50 degrees. Yes "warmed up"... I know, a Floridian saying 50 is warm. I'm surprised too! I quickly removed my pullover sweater after this pic... It was hot.

Fact: puffers are really great for this kind of weather, and they are easy to pack!

We drove a little after our hike to see another part of Lake Santeetlah. And wow! Again I don't think my camera captured it. The air felt great; the view was astonishing.

We brought two movies with us to watch in the cabin. We knew that with such lovely weather and a warm fire, our Christmas favorites had to play; Polar Express and Santa Claus.
I also made sure to pack my dark chocolate Godiva mix because IMO, it's the best. "Not too hot, extra chocolate, shaken, not stirred"

We had the electric heating stove going, and tons of blankets... I miss those nights already...

The outdoor balcony area, at night, was lovely and cozy with the lights.
Funny story: when we sat here at night, we heard leaves crunching in the distance. There was definitely something there, and I'm glad we did not find out what it was.

The next morning we got up early to make sure I got pictures of the morning frost, before it melted.  I ran up the hill outside the cabin and when I made it up the hill, I realized how out of shape I was. Flat Florida is not good for my health.

Fleetwood Mac, Lord Huron, Christmas music, among others, played in the background a lot in this trip. And I tried to sit in this lovely comfortable swing as much as I could during our stay.

On Sunday we headed out to Yellow Creek Falls. This was probably the most fun I'ever had on a hike. Talk about feeling like you are truly inside a forest. Tons of ups and downs, narrow paths, tiny wooden bridges, the sound of the river down below..

We got these waterproof converse, and they were money well spent for this trip.

There was 0 signal on this hike and there was a chance we could come across a black bear according to the signs -Make tons of noise if you see one!- it said. You bet I was trying my best to be loud.

Pictures didn't do this hike justice, so there is none to show; also I didn't want to die attempting to take a picture while climbing in a place with no cellphone signal.

Once we arrived to the waterfall, I couldn't stop smiling. It was BEAUTIFUL

The water was so cold, but felt so good. We are definitely planning a trip here during a summer to swim in this waterfall.
The air here was truly magical.

We headed back to our cabin to get ready for our anniversary dinner. Chris found a steakhouse about an hour away, and you know this girl can't turn down steak.

Three mini Christmas trees were right outside this cabin. Although mini I can say this tree is taller than me. So who am I calling mini.

The next morning, we got ready to head back home. Checkout was at 11 am, so we woke up early enough to enjoy the outdoor area and the cold one more time.
The teddy jacket i'm wearing under my coat was also a great piece I got for this trip.

I was so comfortable in all my layers.

This cute sign was in the cabin. I loved what it said so much, I had to share. Definitely will need this sign in our home...

On our way to breakfast and the airport, we stopped by a road to see this view...

Until next time NC and your beautiful crisp air.
And Happy 7 year anniversary to us!
